London today!

Cloudy today we arrived at Victoria Stn then caught the circular underground 'tube' to Waterloo for a ride on the London Eye.  Fabulous views.  Just stepped off the Eye and the heavens opened with gusts of wind that blew umbrellas inside out!  We quickly scurried into a theatre and watched 4D promo film, long enough for the heavy shower to pass.  Then it was back on underground tube to Tower Hill for the Tower.  We explored the Bloody Tower, Torture Dungeon and saw the Crown Jewels which are breathtaking (far more spectacular than I remember when I visited here in Grade 6!!)  Too late for further sightseeing so we headed for the underground to brave the rush hour - but it wasn't too bad and we were back in Rustington by 7.30pm and still daylight.  Thommo is writing up our daily expenses as I write our story.

Yesterday we left my  school pal Helen at home as she had personal commitments and we took ourselves off in our C220 Mercedes (ho-hum) to see the East Coast.  Never fear we won't be robbing the bank for a Mercedes, too cramped for Thommo!  It looks cool though even though we haven't fathomed out most of the gadgets in it with no manual!!

We drove up to Canterbury, what a busy city.  Took photos of the Cathedral and gasped at all the colleges and universities.  The countryside was 'typical England' in all its glorious greens and fluffy sheep!  Learnt today what all the Kent homes with the strange 'cone shape roofs' were called "Oat Homes" apparently used for storage in days gone by.  Thommo saw sandy beaches at last and I tasted an old seafood delicacy 'a cockle' from 2 dear old ladies sitting on the promenade wall.  Thommo wouldn't have a taste much to these ladies amusement!  We arrived into Brighton on dusk and the Pier looked amazing all lit up and the
promenade was as I vaguely remembered very elegant hotels and wide pavements.  Narrow cobbled streets off shops and restaurants, andxs absolutely bustling with people.  We thoroughly enjoyed our Fish-n-Chips before driving back to Rustington.  A total drive of 380 miles.

Tomorrow we drive to my dear Auntie Betty in Devon, and new sights.  What a week!!  No computer for a while, will catch-up as soon as possible.  xoxoxo

Day 2 in Singapore

Sightseeing today on Tour Bus.  Brilliant did the full circuit from top of Orchard Road outside our hotel, past major hotels eg, Marriot, Hilton, Raffles through the Fihancial District (banking meca).  New complex  Suntech City beside the new high rise apartments and condominium (city residences from 1million US$!)  Along waterfront (holiday cabins rent from $US750.00 per week)  There is huge construction preparing for the Formula 1 and the road circuit.  We did a river cruise checked out the underground Metro and found another world of retail madness absolutely hun8dreds of shops going down at least 4 levels!  Packing up tonight leaving for London 9am tomorrow.  Will get blog awayasap.  xoxo

Oh England!!

We have  seen some sights.  London tour on open double-decker bus, cruise on the Thames, drove around the East coast via Canterbury (only took a photo of the catnedral)  Canterbury is crammed with colleges, churches and people!!
